FHIR REST APIs

Class description

FHIR has become the most widely adopted standard for the exchange of clinical information between health systems. However, for those approaching FHIR for the first time from a technical perspective, concepts such as resources, profiles, terminology, REST APIs or FHIR servers can be unfamiliar and hard to connect.

This session provides an introduction to the fundamental FHIR concepts needed to understand how a FHIR server works and how systems exchange clinical information using this standard. It covers the main FHIR components, resource structure, the REST interaction model, the use of profiles and terminology, and the role of FHIR servers in an interoperability architecture.

The session is designed as a leveling class for developers, integrators and architects who wish to later deepen their knowledge in the implementation and development of FHIR-based solutions.
