FHIR REST APIs
This workshop is focused on gaining hands-on experience implementing FHIR servers, as a first step in the professional development of students interested in working with FHIR in real projects.
Although we will work with a specific technology (HAPI FHIR), the concepts covered during the workshop apply to any technology and version of FHIR, making it an excellent opportunity to work with FHIR in a controlled and guided environment.
Students who complete the workshop will be able to create their own FHIR servers from scratch and extend them in different ways to meet specific requirements, understanding all the steps involved. They will also have a solid foundation to continue learning more complex concepts that allow creating production-ready FHIR servers.
The objective of the workshop is to gain hands-on experience implementing FHIR servers using HAPI FHIR, understanding the fundamental concepts of resources, operations, validation and security that apply to any FHIR implementation.
This workshop has a practical approach, where we will review code, run servers, and observe HTTP communications. Before all practical exercises, the necessary concepts to understand the practical part will be introduced.
All code, documentation and presentations will be available to students.
At the end we will do a short optional evaluation, which is passed with 60% correct answers.
The main audience for this workshop is people with a technical profile who want to learn about FHIR servers.
CaboLabs will issue PARTICIPATION certificates to all students who complete the workshop, and COMPLETION certificates to those who pass the optional evaluation.
We will have three sessions, each with a theoretical introduction and two practical exercises.
